A new branch !!

It is long since I wrote anything ...simply because of no access to a PC with Internet connection.. Then I thought I will just jot down in a piece of paper & then type it out later .. So here goes...

After a series of encounters with the forces of nature which was making Mumbai literally a Water world.. we (my friend, philosopher & guide .. !she wouldnt settle for anything less than that! & myself) finally landed in the Indira Gandhi airport .. Delhi enveloped us in a warm embrace...err.. a bit too warm for my comfort .. After the relentless lashing of the rains in the window panes of the Indian Airlines flight in Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus .. the dry heat of the midday sun felt totally alien to us ...

An Airport taxi took us to Gurgaon - the hub of so many MNCs & even more number of malls that people must have lost count by now.. By nightfall we were in the PG accommodation that a dear friend had taken pains to book for us.. I didnt know what to expect of a PG.. Apart from an imagined hostility(from my end) in the beginning... things have settled down now... We have a Nepali cook and she does things so efficiently with an engaging smile ... which is .. let me tell you .. really hard with 15 odd girls breathing down your neck all the time .. and that many different tastes to cater to . She does go off into her bouts of silences now n then... and I wonder what kind of problems & yearnings she must be having ..being so far from her place ...
Hmm.. I have not seen Gurgaon fully ... not even the area in which I am put up now.. But it is very easy to sum up what you can expect out of it in a day or two ...

It is littered with MNCs, malls .. so far I have seen good roads ... there is nil public transportation for the public which wants to travel a bit decently .. so almost every Tom dick & harry has a personal vehicle.. This causes a lot of traffic jams .. There is no concept of the good dependable auto rickshaws ... the legacy cycle rickshaws are in abundance ...
My friend and I had to use this form of transport in our initial days to reach the office and we felt so bad for the poor fellow pulling our combined weights (we are by no means light weights)... that we ended up paying more than we should have ...

The Malls are a world apart from all this .. There are rows and rows of expensive boutiques and showrooms of every kind .. Absolute heaven for the avid shoppers .. .If you are not very keen in shopping and find yourself in the company of the female species .. Beware .. your patience will be sorely tested .. But there is nothing much to do by way of time pass & nowhere close by to go ..and these malls are good places to hang out when life becomes too monotonous ... We got to see two movies after coming here in one of the halls in a mall .. 7.5 phere and Mangal Pandey (I think maybe I will write about it next time)..
So days in Gurgaon are just passing by.. I can never compare it with the initial ones in Mumbai .. Those beginning days used to be filled with so much excitement with the promise of great things to come..That was an adventure into the big world...Mumbai ....was a home away from home .. and it still is in some ways... There are some dear friends there.... who seem very near... yet so far ...

Hi dear,
Felt as if i was there , you had described it so well. Nothing can match our entry to mumbai. The warmth with which mumbai welcomed us is unorgettable.
Hope the new branch keeps flowering !!!!!!!!

Last leaf to leave the branch !

Hey welcome to Delhi/NCR,
I can understand Gurgaon though developed to a certain extent and kind of a happening place is no match to Mumbai and hope you enjoy your stay here. Shopping in the malls is ok once in a while not always but then they are good enough to hang around. Take Care and Keep Smiling

P.S.- If u need any help you can surely get in touch with me :)
