"Black" - Beauty !!

Saw or rather felt ' Black ' yesterday.....It was a soul awakening experience .... I became so one with the movie that I felt somewhat disoriented when I came out of the hall... and from then my hand has been itching to write about it ...

I do not know if I can do justice to the beautiful movie .. But I am definitely going to try !!

Truely one of the finest creations in celluloid..... Each and every scene comes out & captures your heart.... It tugs at your emotions and pulls you into a time frame of beauty where

* a teacher goes beyond the call of duty and helps a soul lost in darkness to 'feel' light and gives a new meaning to the word ' Black'...

* a blind young woman so dedicated not to give up that she struggles twelve years to get her bachelor's degree... a bold woman who breaks chains.. the visible & the not so visible ones... to liberate her teacher from his disease...

* a cute & normal sister who grows out of her insecurities of not being the so called 'special' person in the house and confesses about her childhood cruelties in front of her family

* a beautiful Mom who feels the pain of her daughter as her own when every time her 'child' calls up & tells her ' Ma .. failed'

* a seemingly heartless Dad who during her convocation proudly comments to the person sitting beside him that it is 'his daughter on stage'

A brilliant performance by Rani Mukherjee & Amitabh Bachchan. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has woven magic out of these two wonderful performers. There were many beautiful moments in the movie ... when Michel (RM) realises that she may never know what it is to be kissed by a man...begs Mr. Sahai(AB) to kiss her atleast once ... this was a very poignant moment ... AB shows the pain caused by this & the other emotions so nicely... and you feel like crying along with Michel for the pain of being born the way she was that she cannot experience 'love'...

There were other small small moments that equally capture your attention... the way Michel answers the question.. 'America lies to your east or west if you are standing in India?'....
And the light heartedness with which Michel & her teacher dance when she fails for the first time.. saying 'failure is the stepping stone to success'.. There are many things you & I , people with all faculties intact can learn from Michel's character... And the joy with which her Mom cries when Michel says her first word 'water'.... The kid performing the childhood Michel really deserves an award (as does everybody else in the movie cast) ... she almost became the blind & deaf character...
I have always felt Robert Frost's words calling to me
' And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep'
and these words have now stuck to me after having heard these lines uttered by AB so many times in the movie....
People who have seen the movie .. do comment on your fav scenes n feelings.. & those who have not seen it yet.. pl do enjoy the movie... and write to me....
Signing off
Sundari

Yes indeed the movie was really good.
The first thing, that I felt after watching the movie, that you will like the movie.
The first time when she uttered the word Mom.
When she was explaining the meaning of Knowledge.
His Teacher comment. “ Life is Like a Ice-cream, eat it before it melts.
When she got her graduation degree.

Hi there,
Great job done Sundari! Movie was simply fabulous !! & u made me watch it again thr ur words....
I think Gr8 acting by RM & AB,that was indeed expected. But the child actress was too good, showed totally lost in her BLACK world, strong & arrogant as her father (by AB), destroying each possible thing in home.
Well, for Hindi film industry, this film has given a new attitude, giving a different subject & a different vision. A Deserved BREAK from all Love-Action Masala movies.
I give the whole credit of BLACK to "Sanjay Leela Bhansali" for superb script & best direction.

L I G H T S !!!
